A thanatopolitical visualisation of accounting history: Giorgio Agamben and Nazi Germany

The extensive measures taken to destroy a people are facilitated by complex matrix of interrelated actors and practices, yet there remains an underdeveloped implication accounting in the wider moral political imperatives. purpose this article is introduce thanatopolitical visualisation history adapted from work Giorgio Agamben Michel Foucault. theoretical triptych implicates business State-sanctioned financial, actual deaths people. Through reference Nazi Germany (1933–1945) companies Deutsche Bank Ford Werke, utility device illustrated, silences given exposure through alternative accounts. Adopting close-reading method, peripheral integral role helped conceal human cost ideology. Beyond Holocaust example, relevant for exploration other instances thanatopolitics, such as war, natural disasters pandemics.
